The Trooth

". "TRUTH IS MIGHTY AND WILL PREVAIL. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS, EXCEPT THAT IT AIN'T SO" - Mark Twain So wise. Too bad they don't make Mark Twain required reading for our kids anymore. Seems so pessimistic. Hopeless. We are taught that if we tell the truth, and we do nothing wrong, we have nothing to worry about. That the TRUTH will prevail. One of the commandments written by the big guy Himself is, "Thou shall not bear false witness upon thy neighbor" The BOSS of the UNIVERSE is telling us he COMMANDS the truth. So, if you were born into any family that even kinda sorta believes in God or reads the bible, you are COMMANDED to tell the truth from birth......OR ELSE!!!! Since the days of Moses, that threat has lost much of the impact and instead of "tell the truth or else", We were offered "rewards" for it. We were taught that the truth would give us more perks than the lies. It offers us "freedom". It offers us power and strength over everything. The truth is the royal flush! Were told, if you got the truth on your side, that's all you need. Then the Beatles came along and told us "love" was all we needed. I'm so confused!!! George Washington said, "Truth will ultimately prevail where there is pains taken to bring it to light." One of the first stories we are ever taught, and we all remember, is about George, as a child, chopping down the cherry tree and even though he knew he did something wrong and his dad was furious, he says, " I cannot tell a lie, father, you know I cannot tell a lie! I did cut it with my little hatchet." The father, who was just before, enraged that his favorite tree was chopped down, suddenly stops being mad, gives lil George a big ole hug and says, "My son, that you should not be afraid to tell the truth is more to me than a thousand trees! Yes -though they were blossomed with silver and had leaves of the purest gold" All is good and right with the world again immediately and all because George told the truth. Great story. Obviously powerful since we all know the story. But realistic? I'm gonna say probably not. What probably really happened was, George was bored, started chopping things and the cherry tree seemed like a cool thing to chop down. , Then his dad found out and beat his ass until he cried "OK! OK! I did it! I'm sorry! Ouch" But that wouldn't be a very nice story to teach the children. Lol. Mahatma Gandhi said, "When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it-- always". He teaches us that even if the truth isn't immediately rewarded, it will ALWAYS win eventually. ALWAYS. More realistic. Also a great story. But..... I still have to say.......no. Sometimes. But not "always". So basically......its a crapshoot. And how would Gandhi, no matter how wise he is, know who wins in the end? The end hasn't happened yet. Abraham "Honest Abe" Lincoln told us, "I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts." He teaches that if we tell the truth, we can depend on others to help us. That if others knew the truth, they would rush to our aide, no matter how bad it was. LMFAO!!!!! REALLY? Maybe that would be true IF people CARED about the truth. And everyone says they do. But that is a lie. People only care about truths that relate to them. They don't accept any truth that doesn't. It's dismissed as a lie, and immediately discredited. We all do it to some degree. It's human nature to doubt the things we don't know about. There are thousands of famous quotes and stories about how the truth sets you free. And we are taught to believe that from jump street. But Mark Twain knew what was up. He told the truth. I am not saying that the other lessons aren't valuable. We need them. But I think we need to realize, and accept that sometimes the truth doesn't matter to anyone but ourselves. That you could scream it at the top of your lungs, and have all the proof in the world, and it doesn't matter to anyone but you. And that sucks! . That, at least in this life, sometimes, even if we are as honest as the day is long, that it just doesn't matter. Sometimes the truth loses the battle. Whether it wins the "war" or not is unknown, as the War has not ended yet. I guess that's where faith comes in. I really don't know. I just know it doesn't seem to be the victor so far. It just ain't so....... Since I was in 4th grade, people have been telling me I should write a book. I have a lot to say and a lot of pretty crazy shit has happened in my life. A lot of it, unbelievable. I tell my stories to people sometimes and if I didn't live it, I wouldn't believe some of it myself. Well, I don't even know how to begin to write a book, besides, who would read it? Lol. I am a nobody. So to scratch the itch, I decided to make a blog. I doubt too many people will care about this either. And if anyone does read it, I doubt they will believe half the things I write. But, like I said, sometimes the truth only matters to the person telling it. So, this blog is mostly just an outlet for me. And if you are reading it, AWESOME! Comment away! I am pretty funny so at the very least you might get a giggle out of it. I write the way I talk, which isn't always grammatically correct, or PC, and even though I was the 6th grade spelling bee champ, (I lied, I got 2nd place), I might make a few mistakes. Who cares. I have a pretty large vocabulary, but I like the F-word and sometimes use it as a sentence enhancer. So, in advance, I apologize. Well, that's my first post in the blog about my life. Thanks for stopping by.

  2. So true. People have their own ideas what the truth is, even if it isn't even close. They don't want to hear the truth, they want to hear what's convenient for them to feel like what the truth is.
